Home?

Well, I'm back at the old apartment right now. Sneezing a ridiculus amount. I needed to wash some clothes for work tomorrow. Plus retrieve our poor freaked out cat. Runnerwolf and Sar were gracious enough to run me home, and reassure me a bit when I started feeling slightly freaked out myself. Mostly, just weirdness of being not fully moved into the new place, but all the furniture is gone from here, except the tv, computer, and a folding table.

[livejournal.com profile] wolfieboy helped us get the truck packed up yesterday and we did a lot of discussion of various books we've both read. That was a lot of fun. I haven't had much chance to talk with him face to face, and I've been rather shy during most of the opportunities. His willingness to help and abilities as "schlep boy" were very much appreciated. Thank you again!

[livejournal.com profile] lewiis and [livejournal.com profile] sar_anon also helped with both the loading and unloading of the truck. Not to mention helping us run other loads and making sure Lerryn had transportation to and from the truck rental place. Both of you helped keep us sane(r), and made the move into something a lot more do-able. Thank you.

[livejournal.com profile] damiana_swan and her older daughter also come over to help. I didn't think we'd get the stuff in the kitchen packed and moved this weekend. But Damiana got the kitchen packed up, and in fewer boxes than I would've managed. This despite running on about 4 hours of sleep. Her older daughter not only attended to some vacuuming of the furniture and assorted other tasks, she also managed to acquire a haul of some $2.77 in change from picking up various coins we had lying around. Giggling delightedly over each new coin, regardless of its value. This was a very cheering thing when moving furniture and boxes galore. Thsnk you, both. (Damiana, could you please pass this along to her?)

I've been listening to a lot of Gaia Consort while doing the packing, moving, and now being over here. Their music is helping to ease the transition and the stress of it. Part of me is still worried that moving wasn't a good idea. Sar kept reminding me that I've been wanting out of this place for quite a while. Change is necessary, but change is never easy. Big, outward, all-at-once changes are the most difficult.

I've been changing a lot these last two years. But it hasn't been as abrupt for the most part as the fact of moving furniture and treasured posessions from one place to another. There's a lot I like about the new place, but it's part of who I am to second-guess, to question and wonder if I've made the right choice.

I agree with Sar that there's a lot the new place can offer me. That it feels more "me", and that it'll offer a lot of opportunity for growth and working on things that I want to. If nothing else, having that second room for my hobbies and Lerryn's will be a big bonus. Who knows, wuith more space we might be able to keep the place cleaner. As Sar noted at one point, the dirt and dust factor over here is significant. Especially after moving all the furniture and other stuff on the floor out.

Hopefully I'll feel better about the new place after sleeping there with Lerryn tonight.

"Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine."

It never really feels like home until all the unpacking is done and you get used to all the 'strange' sounds. But that really doesn't take all that long, trust me...I'm an old pro at moving homes. Glad everything went well. (I wonder just how much unrelated stuff *I* could find moving furniture...other than probably a hundred or so x-stitch needles...) And may you have love and laughter and joy in your new place!

Yes, but unlike your old couch the one you have now isn't malicious with those needles. :)

(Snicker) That's only cause I tend to x-stitch more in bed now. (With no TV in the front room, it's just easier that way...) And besides...they don't attack ME. :)
