OK, so not quite all of the weekend was wonderful, but enough of it was that I'm still feeling very up and very happy right now.

Friday was [livejournal.com profile] runnerwolf's first public ceremony in a while, and the first one using the new firepit. [livejournal.com profile] lerryn and I drove over to Biomass to pick up [livejournal.com profile] corivax for the ceremony. I wasn't quite sure how well that would go for Corvi, or even how it had gone afterwards. But I received an email on Sunday that laid those worries to rest.

For me, despacho and fire both helped me feel a part of a community a bit more again. It's good to participate in something that reaffirms my connections with the people I care about and with the earth and sky. I'm learning to be more confident in my abilities, and to let go of fears and expectations that hold me back. It was wonderful to reach out and interweave with the others to help tame the fire. I very much felt that there was a lot accomplished, before, during, and even after ceremony.

Earlier on Friday I had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] jadine. *smile* That was enjoyable, especially hearing her perspective on past history she shares with mutual friends. There's definitely a sense of, we both want to be friends, especially because of the other people we are both connected to and care about, but we don't know each other much yet. Still, I felt like this was a good first step to start getting more acquainted. I understand a lot better now why [livejournal.com profile] sar_anon is so comfortable talking with her about stuff that's going on. She's got a different perspective and is able to express it well enough to get one to look at things from a different angle. This can lead to new insights, which is a good thing. :)

Saturday morning I spent trying to get my car's emissions inspected. Unfortunately, by the time I got over to the testing place, they were closed. :P Early evening was my date with [livejournal.com profile] sar_anon, which went very well. We'd both been missing each other a lot, since we skipped our date night earlier in the week to give more time for him and Runnerwolf. We ended up spending the later part of the evening with her, listening to music and avoiding the giggle of girls who were over for the b-day party of one of [livejournal.com profile] damiana_swan's daughters.

We listened to a couple of Julia Ecklar's songs, including Hand of God. I think I need to re-find my tape of that, and spend some time just listening to it and meditating. I've changed a lot since the first time I heard Divine Intervention, especially the shattering feelings generated by listening to Hand of God the first time. I'm much stronger now. More self-confident and aware of my abilities and potentials, and more willing to follow where those things may lead me.

We also heard a bunch of Leslie Fish songs, which are often amusing. Yes, in case you weren't already well aware of this, Runnerwolf has a definite addiction to filk. ;) Oh, one of the other moments I loved from that night was listening to Sar and Runnerwolf sing along with Lullaby For a Weary World by Julia Ecklar. I love when Sar sings, and get absolutely lost in his voice... Having him harmonizing with a recording of Julia? And Runnerwolf adding her voice as well? *swoon*

I wish I had words to explain things that are wordless and beyond words. Maybe then I could explain my feelings towards both of them, and the way they've affected me and my life. Love, connection, joy, these words touch on what I feel, but they don't capture even a tenth part of my feelings.

Sunday morning was a bit stressful. Lerryn and I had some stuff we needed to work out budget-wise. We managed it, and then I was off to class and gaming. Gaming was a lot of fun. =) We're starting what will hopefully be a quick advancement/lots of treasure/hack'n slash/pure fun adventure. I'm pleased with my character, who's a half-elf/half-celestial chaotic good thief. Yes, Sar let's us get away with lots of craziness. 2 other members of the party are also half-celestial, so we've got 3 winged scouts, essentially. I was having a lot of fun interacting with the NPC that Sar had join us. Honestly, I think he was trying to out-do the rest of us for pure outrageousness of character; because the NPC's mother was an ancient blue dragon, and her father was an incubus. So, we've got a female bombshell with irridescent blue scales, and has about a 3 yr old's understanding of humanoid society. She speaks Common passingly well, and is completely fluent in a scary number of other languages. Oh, and has a degree of strength that is frightening. Fortunately, she does take directions well, if far too literally.

After gaming, Runnerwolf, Sar, and I went to Biomass to join [livejournal.com profile] corivax, [livejournal.com profile] plantae, and [livejournal.com profile] dymaxion for Compline. That went far better for me this time than the first time. I had an interesting discussion with Plantae walking over there about differing religions and attitudes of various folks in same. Mostly that got started by me talking about living in Salt Lake City, Utah, and not being very happy there. Hopefully I'll get a chance to talk with her more about those subjects another time. I will note that I very much agreed with her on how any religion can have bigots and close-minded folks, and that people who are at similar points in their spiritual development can have a lot in common, regardless of which religion they happen to follow.

So, that was a long and rambling post about my weekend. Amazing how much can happen in just a few short days...

As for the ceremony. I think it went well.. I know I have much to learn.. But it was quite good.. I just need to get used to feeling that much energy at one time.

As for the Filk.. I would love to borrow some of her collection so that I could listen to it.. (Unlike my wife,) I enjoy filk and would love to hear more.. I've heard some Leslie Fish, Meg Davis, and a few others..

Heh, as for the Bombshell.. Taking things literally, yeah, that can make for some interesting fun.. Can't remember which Anime had a character that took things so literally that it was fun to watch.

mp3.com has some that was put up by Prometheus music (www.prometheus-music.com) That's where I got the Julia songs from. (P.S. if she's willing to listen to them, the Julia songs are absolutely wonderful with Orchestral accompaniment)

Personally, I always wanted to hear 'Weary World' done with full orchestra and full choir...or perhaps just full choir. Julia's songs seem to lend themselves to full orchestration, somehow...

Speaking for myself, I think there was a bit more energy than normal friday. New firepit, both ceremonies, and new additions :)

Well, haven't been there before, so I couldn't tell about the differences.. I do know that Runnerwolf was a bit surprised especially w/ how fast the Despatcho went up.. Some of the stuff I expected to take longer to burn was *poof*..

Also, have a question for you that I'd like to ask outside of LJ..

Agreed. It was one of the strongest ceremonies I've participated in.
