Interesting day.

OK, fess up, who cursed me? j/k
Well, my morning started off with several nightmares. All dealing with my trying to talk with one of my partners about something, and it going horribly wrong in various ways. :P Definitely not a happy, though hopefully it means I've now worked out all the ways I could stick my foot in my mouth and will now avoid them. (Yeah, riiiight.) Some days I'm convinced that my brand of poly isn't necessarily so much, "Communicate, communicate, communicate," as "Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate."
A woman nearly got hit by a bus at my bus stop this morning. I was trying to ground, center, shield, etc., so I didn't see what happened exactly. But trying to reconstruct it from what i did see and the comments I heard from the people around me, I guess this old lady tried to cross the road several yards up from the crosswalk, and that the bus coming the other way across the street just barely managed to stop in time. I heard a shout, and when I looked up I saw this old lady scuttle back out into the street to retrieve one of her shoes. Very glad Metro has good brakes and alert drivers, at least this particular morning. :P
So, I get to my stop in the tunnel, go upstairs to the street level, and I'm approached by this homeless guy selling necklaces. Didn't know that's what he was selling at first, since he just came up and introduced himself and started talking. Very charming patter, and heck if I can remember most of it. Talking about how he's a street artist, supports himself by making these 'charms', and about how he's trying to make things a bit better with all the troubles in our country these days, and so on. Well, one of the charms caught my eye. It's 3 beads on a silver wire, the center bead is purple glass, and the two flanking beads are silver metal. I asked him what he wanted for that charm, and he said he was welcoming whatever people would offer. "6 or 7 dollars, or even 6 million dollars." I chuckled and offered 10, which he accepted. He almost gave me a second charm along with the first, but i insisted I only wanted the one.
We'll note, I don't usually buy stuff from homeless folks. Nor do I usually buy stuff on impulse like that. But i liked the way the guy approached me, and he actually had something to sell that I thought looked cool.
Aside from that, work's gone quite well this morning. I got a bunch of copies made for an upcoming meeting. I managed to write out a fairly coherent email to the partner I was having nightmares about. And we had one of the guys who retired from here 2 years ago show up today. This fellow was one of the nicer people here, and he made me feel very comfortable with this job while I was still just a temp. It was good to see him stop by and say hi to everyone. He even remembered me. :)
So, I wonder what the rest of today holds... Guess I'll find out. =)
