LJ interests meme

  1. bdsm:
A wide and vasty realm of ways to play with my body and mind. Something I once feared, and now find a source of strength and learning.
  2. dancing:
Being able to move my body to music is something I've always desired. The fact that I can do so these days with some degree of grace and skill is a wonder and an amazement to me.
  3. dune:
I adored the movie with Kyle McLachlan, and it led me to reading the entire Dune series by Frank Herbert. I still consider the 1st and 4th books to be the best in the series and the ones I re-read most often. By this point I've read the entire series at least a half-dozen times.
  4. filk:
Being the avid lover of books and song that I am, no other genre of music offers such a wonderful crossover between the two. As I've explained to others, there are things that get expressed in filk songs that don't find expression anywhere else. For good and ill, admittedly.
  5. hugs:
*purr* A warm embrace from someone I'm comfortable with in that moment is a Good Thing(tm).
  6. laurell k. hamilton:
Author of the Anita Blake series and the Merry Gentry series, I find a lot in her stories that appeals. I have no objection to the levels of porn, and I like the ways her characters struggle with their lives. (Though yes, she needs an editor and a proofreader badly.)
  7. poetry:
I write poems, I read poems, I love it when people use poetically descriptive language. This is one of my sources of self and self-expression, though it has been a rarer one in recent days.
  8. religions:
I love finding out how people explain the world around them, and how they enact those explanations through ritual.
  9. sacred sexuality:
Nearest and dearest to my heart and self, this interest. I want to learn more about how to incorporate this into my life, into my calling. Sometimes I know what I mean by it, other times it is more elusive than dreams.
  10. sheri s. tepper:
Another good author. I highly recommend Gibbon's Decline and Fall, and The Gate to Women's Country. I find myself re-reading those and how they construct the relationship between the sexes.
