Och, Lord, save me from your followers.
Sep. 6th, 2002 11:19 amThis was something I ran across whilst googling for spermicidal alternatives to N-9:
From the web page of the American Life League:
What is my best option?
Some people may try to convince you that spermicides are totally without risk. Don't believe it! Don't depend on condoms and spermicides. They could be harmful to you.
If you're single, abstinence is always your best choice. It isn't always easy, but it always works. By abstaining from sex, you eliminate the possibility of pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease.
If you are married, be faithful to your spouse, trusting in the Lord and His will.
Be good to yourself. Don't use spermicides.
*sigh* Trust in the Lord and His will, if you are supposed to be pregnant then you'll be pregnant, and Heaven help you if you don't want kids. "Whaddya get married fer in the first place, iffn ya didn't want kids?" "How can you be a woman and not want kids?" Blegh, bring me my high-powered rifle, time to clean up the gene pool.
On a brighter note, found a different spermicide called octoxynol, though it's also a biodetergent, so who knows if I'd have the same reaciton or not. First need to try and find products that use it instead of nonoxynol-9. :P

What I'd need before wanting kids.
Sep. 6th, 2002 02:56 pmI've never stated all this together and so concisely before, so I decided to copy this over into a post of its own.
Before I'd actively want kids, I'd need to overcome a lot of past baggage about my own mom. I'd need to get past a lot of disgust at the thought of the changes my body would go through during pregnancy. I'd need to get past my strong dislike of loud, shrill, piercing noises. I'd need to get past my fears of totally f-ing up another human being by not being good enough as a parent. I'd need to want to commit my life, my resources, and my plans for the next 20-some years to the raising of my child(ren). At this point in time, I don't see me doing any of those things, let alone all of them. Thus, the serious consideration of sterilization.
