k_crow | NaPoWriMo: Fins

So their boy was born with fins.
This brought them disappointment, grieving.
But they carried him in a special basket when they had to.
They sent him to a school to work hard at exercising those fins.
The school would make him strong,
And though he'd always do poorly at it,
He'd make some progress towards walking.
The merpeople called out to his parents,
"Let him join us in the water!"
But the school said that was bad,
That if their boy began to swim,
Why, he'd lose all chance of ever learning to walk.
What ever will they do?
